Annual Awards
Once a year the ARC hosts a banquet to recognize outstanding service or support for individuals and/or programs that benefit people with developmental disabilities. In addition to the community awards, we also recognize a school teacher and principal. Nominations are accepted from the local community at large.

Day Support
Day Support Programs provide social integration and learning opportunities for individuals that need some structured support to use resources within the community at large and integrate into their home communities. These supports are funded through the state Medicaid waiver program under the titles of CAI (community access individual) and CAG (community access group).
The ARC provides this support on Tuesdays through its Blue Sky Adventures program, which is a once-a-week day of discovery, fun, and education in the community. We also provide day support on other days through individualized activities and planning with the individuals in service. The individualized activities may include gym memberships, art classes, computer classes, club membership and participation, or support to attend community events, etc.
Family Support
Quarterly Membership/Family Support meetings are held quarterly to provide education, networking, and fellowship for parents and individuals we support. Meetings usually have a program on a current topic of interest and some meetings are just for fun, as is the case of our annual “repeat” talent show from summer camp. Meetings are traditionally held on the third Friday of July, October, January, and April at 6:30 p.m. Meetings usually begin with a light supper provided by the ARC or a “pot-luck” supper with meat furnished. Meetings are free and open to the public. A detailed flyer will be posted on our website prior to each meeting. Detailed information is listed on our website and mailed prior to the meeting.
Recreational/Social
Seasonal parties are held in partnership with the Macon/Bibb County Parks and Recreation Department-Adaptive Program. These include a Valentine Banquet and Dance ($10 per person), October Fall Jamboree ($5 per person), and Christmas Banquet and Dance ($10 per person).
We also help sponsor a once-a-month aKtion club, which operates under the umbrella of Kiwanis International. Members follow the same guidelines as other Kiwanis clubs by paying dues, saying the Pledge of Allegiance, electing officers, and working on service projects.
Special Olympics
ARC-Macon provides Special Olympic training in Basketball Skills, Table Tennis, and Bocce’ Ball. A team is also sponsored to compete in the State Master’s Bowling Tournament. Look for updates and event postings on our website.

Summer Camp
A Monday-Friday residential camp is sponsored in late August each year. Participants must have the ability to care for their own personal needs with limited supervision/assistance as the camp is staffed by volunteers. We welcome the opportunity to serve individuals with special needs but a care-giver would have to be identified.
